The Gluten-Free Food Consultant Specialist

A Gluten-Free Food Specialist is an independent restaurant consultant trained by the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG). As a Gluten-Free Food Specialist, you will be equipped with the expertise and knowledge to prepare restaurants for GFFS Validation. Our specialized training ensures that you become an expert in gluten-free safety at restaurants, making you a trusted source of guidance for establishments seeking to provide a safe and inclusive dining environment.

The best part? You have the freedom to set your own hours and rates. As a Gluten-Free Food Specialist, you have complete control over your work-life balance and earning potential. Consultants operate as contractors of GIG, who are licensed to offer GFFS validation. This means entrepreneurs can build their own businesses. Consultants are not bound by any predetermined territory or expectations, giving you the flexibility to work with clients at your convenience. We believe in fostering collaboration rather than competition, so GIG is your partner in this effort.  Your success is limited only by your ambition and dedication.

Why is the role of a Gluten-Free Food Specialist so vital? Restaurants have long been a pain point for gluten-free consumers - 78% of gluten-free consumers fear dining out. With an estimated 600,000 restaurants in the US alone, local activism is essential to implementing widespread change. GIG/GFFS offers the solution, and it's through passionate consultants like you that we can make a difference.

Ready to take the first step? Here's how it works:

  1. Qualify: You must have experience in managing commercial food service or have inspection/auditing experience in food services. You must have a valid ServSafe certificate.
  2. Meet the Requirements: To ensure your proficiency, we require that you hold a valid ServSafe Food Handler's Certificate. Additionally, you'll need to demonstrate your knowledge of the gluten-free diet by passing a pre-training test with 90% accuracy.
  3. Apply: Submit your application to become a Gluten-Free Food Specialist. We welcome individuals who are committed to upholding our high standards and sharing their expertise with restaurants. You will be required to demonstrate knowledge of the gluten-free diet and lifestyle by passing a test provided by GIG.
  4. Training and Certification: Once accepted as a consultant, and the training fee* is paid, you will undergo comprehensive training by GIG. Your comprehension will be tested through quizzes and a final GFFS exam. Achieve a minimum accuracy of 95%, and GIG will certify you as a Gluten-Free Food Specialist with the license to offer GFFS Validation to your clients.
  5. Launch Your Business: As an official Gluten-Free Food Specialist you are ready to establish your own consultancy. You can offer training to restaurants using GIG's comprehensive materials or develop your own. Set your rates, create sales and marketing strategies, and unlock the potential of your entrepreneurial spirit.
  6. Upsell GFFS Validation: As a consultant, you have the opportunity to upsell GFFS validation to restaurants. GFFS will facilitate the validation process, making it a seamless experience for you and your clients. Plus, you'll earn a commission on each validation, allowing you to quickly recoup your training fee.
  7. Continuing Education: As an industry that continually evolves, it's crucial to stay updated. Consultants are required to participate in annual continuing education, approved through or provided by GIG, ensuring their knowledge remains current.

Investment: We believe in the value of our training, which is why we require a one-time fee of $1000 to cover your comprehensive education. Additionally, there is an annual renewal fee of $50 for your licensing, which is waived when you bring two locations for validation each year. With just a few successful validations, you'll have made back your investment and secured a profitable future.
