George Fox Friends School was laid down at the end of the 2014-2015 school year. It was a sad day when we no longer had eager and inquisitive children filling the school with their energy and enthusiasm.
Over the months that followed our closing the Trustees and many friends worked to sell the school’s property, books, equipment and to settle our affairs in good order.
We had always hoped that the final sale of the school’s ten-acre property would allow us to repay our debts and conclude the school’s business with Friendly stewardship and care. We attempted to sell the property through traditional realtor listings and finally decided to offer it for sale at an auction. The best auction offer was accepted by our mortgage holder, but was not sufficient to meet our desired goal which would have allowed us to repay our creditors.
We still need your help. The Trustees believe that the remaining burden of debt should not be shouldered by a few dedicated and responsible Friends. We believe and trust that our school family will pitch in with whatever they can afford to help reduce or eliminate our remaining debt. These expenses were incurred in the work of offering affordable, quality education and care to many children. If our friends and families join together we can add one last shining accomplishment to the GFFS legacy.
Please consider a donation to help GFFS. Your gift is still tax-deductible and will be greatly appreciated.
If you would like to discuss the issue, please contact us. We will be happy to talk with you about the school’s closing and the remaining debt.
